2007 Montana State Quarter

The obverse (heads) design features the familiar image of George Washington by John Flanagan, used on the quarter since 1932.

The reverse depicts a bison skull above a landscape featuring mountains and plains, representing Montana's diverse terrain and natural beauty.

It includes "Montana," "1889" (the year Montana was admitted into the Union), and "Big Sky Country," which is the state's nickname.

The bison skull is a powerful symbol, particularly sacred to many of Montana's American Indian tribes, and is widely seen throughout the state.

This coin was the 41st in the 50 State Quarters Program, which honored each state in the order of its admission to the Union.

Mint Mark: D
