2006 North Dakota State Quarter

The obverse (heads) design features the familiar image of George Washington by John Flanagan, used on the quarter since 1932.

The reverse side of the coin features two American Bison grazing in the foreground, with a sunset scene of the rugged buttes and canyons of North Dakota's Badlands in the background.

This quarter commemorates North Dakota's admission into the Union on November 2, 1889, as the 39th state.

It was the fourth of five state quarters released in 2006 and the 39th coin in the overall 50 State Quarters Program
