2005 West Virginia State Quarter
The obverse side features a modified design of the traditional Washington Quarter, including "United States of America," "In God We Trust," "Liberty," and "Quarter Dollar".
The reverse depicts the scenic New River and the iconic New River Gorge Bridge, a significant landmark in West Virginia, along with the inscription "New River Gorge".
The New River Gorge Bridge is notable as one of the longest single-arch steel bridges in the world and a marvel of engineering, rising 876 feet above the New River.
This quarter was released on October 14, 2005, as the 35th coin in the program, commemorating West Virginia's admission to the Union on June 20, 1863.
